Surgical Care Improvement Project was initiated by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid to meet best practice standards to prevent surgical infections. Lincoln Surgical Hospital has joined other hospitals in the National project to provide our patients with quality care and patient safety based current clinical recommendations which include:• Antibiotic given within 1 hour prior to the surgical incision
• Appropriate antibiotic selection
• Antibiotic stopped within 24 hours after surgery
• Appropriate hair removal (clip hair,do not shave)
• Temperature maintained within the recommended range
• Appropriate preventative blood clot and embolism measures
